A Cat Show Stopper

Current Mood: Kitty Cat-tastic!

Friends, have you ever been to a cat show? Well, let me tell you, it was one of the most unexpected, amazing and strangest things we’ve ever done.

Imagine a gymnasium filled with cats of every color, breed and body type. From grumpy-faced, fluffy coated Persians to short-haired, orange-eyed Blue Russians (never even heard of those!) and everything else in between. Each cat had its own elaborate carrier, basically a small house with multiple levels for suspended napping and tiny bathroom mats placed ever so carefully next to a litter box. Some cats even had customized, bedazzled grooming stations with photos showing his or her personality.

The best part, though, was watching the biggest cat I’ve ever seen (a Maine coon with paws the size of saucers) being pushed to its showing-cage atop a wheeled walker, the kind that comes complete with hand brakes and a soft seat. The weird thing was, no one seemed to think this was the least bit strange.

Of course, we couldn’t let that go without pointing it out. “Evie, you’ve got to see this!” Dad and I said. Evie turned her head and immediately erupted into an uncontrolled fit of giggles that quickly became full on belly laughs. When the cat reached its cage, it actually climbed in on its own. Then, the owner sat patiently atop the walker for judging. “Oh. My. Gosh!” Evie yelled through her laughs. You can imagine the LOOKS we got!

I went to a cat show. The funniest thing was a cat in a walker. I thought it was funny because after the cat got out of the walker a person got on!!!!!

We weren’t exactly asked to leave, but let’s just say that Evie managed to lighten up an otherwise very, very serious cat show.

SIDE NOTE: You can have your cat photographed IN A STUDIO playing with your heirloom jewelry or sipping a soda (because my cat does both ALL the time and I’ve just not been able to capture him in his best light). Perfect for sharing your cat’s fanciful side with everyone who comes to your home. Now available in poster size! Who knew?!
